Tidal cycles shape activity in mangrove and coastal systems. In the Amazonian lowlands, the question is not when to go but where to look.

Biodiversity here remains extraordinary throughout the year. What shifts is habitat accessibility: high water opens the flooded forest to canoe-based observation, while low water reveals beaches and sandbars that host specialized species. Mixed-species flock activity — one of the most dynamic phenomena in Amazonian birding — responds more to local conditions and fruit availability than to month or season.
