Service Description

Along the forested slopes of Bogota’s eastern hills, this route follows a peaceful trail through high Andean forests filled with native vegetation and panoramic views of the city. It’s a perfect setting to observe hummingbirds and mountain birds while experiencing the transition from urban life to natural Andean landscapes. Target species: - Silvery-throated Spinetail (Synallaxis subpudica) - Blue-throated Starfrontlet (Coeligena helianthea) - Shining Sunbea (Aglaeactis cupripennis) - Chestnut-crowned Antpitta (Grallaria ruficapilla) - Green-tailed Trainbearer (Lesbina nuna) - Black-tailed Trainbearer (Lesbia victoriae) The experience includes Everything you need for a safe and inspiring day in nature: - Entrance to the reserve - Expert scientific guidance - Travel insurance - This experience does not include transportation. The meeting and ending point is the entrance of the birdwatching site. Expedition level: 1 Recommendations: - Dress in layers: breathable shirt, thermal or fleece sweater, waterproof and windproof jacket. - Wear waterproof trekking boots with good traction. - Bring accessories: hat, gloves, and scarf to stay warm. - Use sunscreen, even on cloudy days. - Pack a raincoat or poncho. - Carry a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. - Avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks before and during the activity. - Bring lightweight binoculars and a camera with good zoom. - Use a notebook or app to record observed birds. - Download bird identification apps such as eBird or Merlin. - Bring a regional bird field guide (e.g., Avifauna Colombiana). - Carry a light and comfortable backpack. - Take care at high altitudes: stop if you feel dizzy or short of breath. - Inform your guide of any medical conditions or required medication. - Take breaks whenever necessary. - Leave no trace: take all your trash with you. - Stay quiet and observe wildlife from a respectful distance. - Do not collect plants, rocks, or natural elements. - Always walk on marked trails to avoid damaging the ecosystem. - Follow your guide’s instructions and stay with the group. - Notify the guide immediately if someone feels unwell or needs assistance.

Cancellation Policy

Bio-Escape Policy (1 Day) 1. Booking & Cancellation More than 72 hours before start: 80% refund of the total amount. Between 72 and 24 hours before start: 50% refund of the total amount. Less than 24 hours before start: No refund will be issued. 2. General Terms Transaction Fees: Refunds are subject to the deduction of bank commissions and payment gateway fees. These are non-refundable. No-Show: No refunds or credits for participants who do not arrive at the scheduled start. Transferability: Spot is transferable to another person with 24h notice. 3. Cancellations by Faunaris Internal Reasons: If we cancel due to not meeting the minimum group size, you will receive a 100% refund or full credit. Notification: At least 48 hours in advance. Force Majeure: For cancellations due to factors beyond our control (weather, government closures, etc.), we will issue a Credit Voucher minus any non-recoverable expenses already paid to third parties. 4. Limited Liability Faunaris is not liable for any external expenses (flights, hotels, gear) incurred by the participant. We strongly recommend purchasing Travel Insurance. Limited Liability: Faunaris is not responsible for any external expenses incurred by the participant in preparation for the trip, including but not limited to: international/domestic airfare, specialized gear purchases, or visa fees.
